As the former WWE Games author Justin Leeper said in a video, the WWE 2K series will be suspended this year. However, he gives hope for WWE 2K22 and another project with the WWE license.
For WWE 2K20 2K Sports had to accept harsh criticism. As a result, there may not be a WWE 2K21 this year, as Justin Leeper, ex-story writer for past WWE 2K games, revealed in a video. The reasons for this are the massive technical problems of the last game, the change of the developer studio from Yuke’s to Visual Concepts and delays in the course of the corona crisis. It would be the first year since 2012 that no 2K Sports WWE game will be released.

Justin Leeper also said a few words about other upcoming WWE games. Even if no WWE 2K21 should be released this year, there should be another, yet unannounced game with a WWE license instead. However, Leeper did not want to disclose any further information. He also revealed that WWE 2K22 should not appear on the next-gen consoles, but will only be released on PS4, Xbox One and "probably PC".
The current part WWE 2K20 appeared last year and received devastating reviews from all sides. The game is currently at a metascore of 43. The developer Yuke’s was replaced during production, and Visual Concepts had to finish the game in a few months.
