Amazingly, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (2023 Edition) becomes the first game in the series to arrive on Xbox Game Pass today (July 24), just in time for you to get fully prepared before the arrival of Call of Duty Black Ops 6. But how much time do you really have to practice? Well, don’t worry, we did some ridiculous calculations.
Yeah, stop engaging in debates about whether CoD now being on Game Pass is a good thing for Xbox, or whether recent Game Pass changes are confusing — it’s time to shoot some people.

According to Microsoft’s announcement, Modern Warfare 3 will be available through the Game Pass for console, Game Pass for PC, and Game Pass Ultimate tiers, and will include all the modes you loved, thought were okay, or hated.
That’s the single-player campaign, the Zombies campaign, and multiplayer – the latter of which is what we’re going to focus on, because now’s the time for us to pull out some of our patented weird math, just as we did previously with Black Ops 2 on Wii U.
Deathmatches in Modern Warfare 3 (whether team or free-for-all) have a time limit of 10 minutes. Of course, they don’t have to last that long, as a match ends if one player or team reaches the score limit, but it’s not impossible to go on for long periods of time if everyone you’re playing with (including you) is a terrible gamer.
As of this writing, there are 93 days left until Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s release date of October 25th. That’s 133,920 minutes. So if we divide that by 10 minutes, we get 13,392 minutes. Now, given the need for loading screens and finding matches, it’s unrealistic to expect you to play the game non-stop for that amount of time, but if you forgo the things humans need to do – sleeping, eating, etc. (FYI, we obviously don’t recommend you do that), then around 13,000 minutes of play seems possible.
So for someone like me who sucks at CoD, losing about 13,000 MW3 games before jumping straight to Blops 6 seems – theoretically – possible. But Mark, you’re saying that even if you suck, you can still be carried to some wins by your teammates. To you, I’d say this: you probably didn’t play hard enough to lose. The only limits to how bad video games can be are what we can imagine. Now, for the sake of a great dream, go out there and get headshotted repeatedly.
Oh, and if you’re curious about the Black Ops 6 beta date, you can read about that here.
