Microsoft performed well in the second quarter of fiscal 2020, but the Xbox business did not.
In a conference call, Microsoft disclosed earnings for the second quarter of fiscal 2020, and the company shared some information about Microsoft's health. Xbox The brand and its gaming division.
During the quarter, gaming revenue fell 21%, and Xbox services and content fell 11%. Microsoft blames the slowdown in sales of the Xbox One at the end of this generation and the lack of a large number of third-party releases during the quarter.
Of course, Red Dead Redemption 2 was released the previous year and it helped increase gaming revenue.
Despite this, the Xbox Game Pass remains a stable performance for the company. Although no specific figures were disclosed, Microsoft revealed that Game Pass users "more than doubled" during the quarter. CEO Satya Nadella also revealed that Xbox Live set a new monthly active user record, but also did not provide exact numbers.
Microsoft will launch the game streaming service xCloud in fiscal 2020, and Nadella notes that the test has attracted "thousands" of players so far. The lineup of Project xCloud games has continued to expand, and until recently last week, Microsoft regularly added new games.
