The Xbox Series X is constantly selling out. Even the manufacturer Microsoft lacks the new consoles that the company actually needs for events like a Halo Infinite tournament.
- Getting an Xbox Series X is currently difficult due to the lack of chips.
- Now Microsoft doesn’t even get enough new consoles for events.
- Participants in an official Halo tournament had to play on developer consoles.
The Xbox Series X is almost always sold out individually, due to global delivery bottlenecks, the consoles are difficult to get.
Apparently the manufacturer itself has problems finding enough new consoles for its own events.
Microsoft needs some new consoles for an official Halo tournament, but like Tahir Hasandjekic, who shares Halo eSports and Viewership Lead at 343 Industries on Twitter, Microsoft had to find an alternative.
For the tournament, the company has equipped the players with developer consoles. These “dev kits” are used to develop games for the new consoles and are not intended for retail or private households.
Apparently not even Microsoft itself is immune from the chip shortage. The problem with the chips does not only affect the Xbox Series X, but also the PS5 and graphics cards.
