Microsoft is once again taking the Xbox user interface to its chest and apparently wants to overhaul it. The first tests are scheduled to begin later this year.
The Xbox consoles UI will be reworked. Microsoft is apparently starting a multi-month series of experimental phases to create a more personalized home screen experience and to respond to some of the most important trends and fan requests. At least that’s what Ivy Krislov, Senior Product Manager Lead of Xbox Experiences, confirms.
As early as this week, a random squad from the Alpha ring of Xbox Insiders will be involved in the first tests. According to initial images, Microsoft is getting inspired by the features and layout of the Xbox TV app for starters. The Xbox TV app has a search function at the top and a shortcut to Settings – Microsoft is bringing both of these into the Xbox Home console’s main user interface.
The revision, which will extend over the next few months, is scheduled to be made available to all users in 2023. Exciting, there have been calls for an overhaul of the UI for ages and we’re excited to see what the outcome will be.
