You really don’t want to comment on politics on a gaming site, but sometimes you have to. After the announcement of the energy-saving functions for the Xbox consoles, some Republicans in the USA are completely freaking out.
Since Trump, at the latest, we know well enough that some politicians from the Republican wing in the USA do not always shine with logic in their polemics. Now both some Republicans and Fox News have found a new villain to denounce in the fight against “Wokeness.”
We remember: Microsoft recently announced an update with new energy saving options for the Xbox consoles, which are intended to reduce energy consumption, especially in standby mode. Apparently some Republicans have figured that out too.
The well-known Senator Ted Cruz insisted on wailing on Twitter: “gas stoves, then your coffee, now they’re gunning for your Xbox”. Who “they” are now… no one knows… probably small, green, woke little men from his nightmares. This is mistaken with a link to a Blaze report falsely claiming that Xbox is forcing users to save energy.
Congressm an Troy Nehls immediately trumpeted the same horn: “They want to take your guns. They want to take your gas stoves. And now they want to take your Xbox. What’s next?”, also linked to the incorrect report.
For Fox News, the update is even a way to recruit children for climate policy at an early age. Yes, exactly … uff. The conservative Young America’s Foundation also knocked out another straight away: “Lol now the woke brigade is after video games all in the name of climate change.”
Seems like some are now deserted by all good spirits. Especially since completely ignoring the fact that all power saving settings are completely optional and not forced, and also have no impact on gameplay, is not exactly a modicum of expertise.
