According to a new report, Microsoft wants to completely change its marketing around the Xbox; the Xbox Series X/S will then be almost completely out of focus.
According to a new report by the very well-connected and well-informed industry insider Tom Warren, Microsoft will completely change its marketing around the Xbox. The Xbox Series X/S console itself will suffer in this context, as it will essentially no longer be advertised at all, at least in Europe, the Middle East and Africa – i.e. the EMEA region.
Warren led in a new edition of The Notepad said that he had received a tip that Microsoft would like to completely reorganize its marketing around the Xbox in the future. According to the report, it will only focus on the Xbox Game Pass, cloud gaming, the PC and Xbox controllers – while the console itself will be avoided.
“Microsoft is having a hard time selling Xbox Series S and X consoles in many EMEA countries. The tipster believes that this is resulting in Microsoft allocating smaller quantities of consoles in Europe,” Warren continued.
At the same time, Warren also emphasizes that he has not yet been able to fully verify the information about Microsoft’s changed strategy; he is still looking for further information and confirmation.
Sales of Xbox Series consoles have basically been below expectations since they went on sale in November 2020. According to the latest surveys, they are around 13 percent behind the sales of the Xbox One within the same period since launch.
