Microsoft Feel game pass Can make up for sales lost by the company due to no sales indiana jones and starry sky on PlayStation.
According to court documents filed by the FTC to block Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the government agency cited the testimony of Tim Stuart, Microsoft’s chief financial officer for gaming (thanks IGN).
Stuart said Microsoft predicted the company would sell more than 10 million PlayStation titles, a forecast that came before the company made Bethesda and Machine Games titles Xbox exclusives.
The FTC filing notes that Microsoft believes it can “offset the loss of ZeniMax Games exclusivity through the benefits of Game Pass and increased console sales.”
Stuart’s testimony also noted that Microsoft would need less money in the short term to compensate for the financial impact of ZeniMax Games’ exclusive rights on Microsoft’s platform.
Microsoft acquired Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax as early as 2020, which brought other studios under Microsoft’s banner and greatly increased the number of developers and IP. The Rockville, Maryland-based company was one of the largest privately held gaming companies at the time, employing 2,300 people worldwide and boasting one of the biggest hits of all time, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which sold more than 20 million copies share.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently failed to seek a preliminary injunction blocking the Microsoft-Activision Blizzard deal and appealed to the courts. The judge presiding over the first case dismissed the FTC’s appeal, bringing the takeover closer to fruition.
