With the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro, the manufacturer introduced a new smartwatch just a few days after Samsung. In one point, it clearly trumps the Galaxy Watch 5.
- Xiaomi has introduced a new smartwatch.
- The Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro is advertised with an immense usage time.
- It should offer a total of 14 days of usage time.
Shortly after Samsung introduced its new smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 5 (Pro), Xiaomi followed suit. With the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro, the manufacturer not only presents an elegant watch, but also a real runtime miracle.
Because in addition to a high-quality appearance with a metal housing and leather strap, the smartwatch should offer a battery life of up to 14 days. That’s not a typo. On the company side, there is also talk of usage time – not just standby time.
New leader with 336 hours of usage time?
For comparison: The Apple Watch Series 7 lasts up to 18 hours, the Galaxy Watch 5 should even offer 80 hours. A usage time of the equivalent of 336 hours would be a huge advantage over the competition. The volume of the battery of the Watch S1 Pro is not unusually large at 500 milliampere hours.
One explanation for this is that, unlike Samsung, you don’t use Android on the watch, but Xiaomi’s in-house software. There is no app store provided, through which additional apps can be loaded onto your watch. The clock is more independent and there are fewer programs that need to be synchronized. That saves electricity.
Xiaomi has already applied this principle to the Xiaomi Watch S1 and in our test the watch was actually able to keep the promised 12 days. You can probably expect the same from the S1 Pro if the smartwatch also appears in this country.
