Ryu Ga Gotoku Studiothe team behind the series was formerly known as gangsterA showcase has been announced for the next month.
If you’ve been looking for your Yakuza fix, or I guess I should say like a dragon Fix, good news: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio just announced the RGG Summit for Summer 2023. The developer announced the livestream on its official Twitter account, where it shared that you’ll be able to check out the livestream on June 16. There’s a slight appeal to UK viewers though, as it’ll air at 4am US time, or noon Japan time (for viewers in the US, it’ll technically be at 11pm ET on June 15th. pm/8 p.m. PT).
The announcement didn’t mention what exactly we’ll see during the stream, but it’s almost certain that there will be dragon-like things being shown off. At its last showcase last year, the studio officially unveiled Yakuza 8, as well as Dragon Gaiden, a series that once again stars series mainstay Kazuma Kiryu. We might assume we’ll see more of these two, but there could obviously be some surprises, too.
Yakuza 8 picks up the events of Yakuza 7: Yakuza (yes, the decision to rename the series made it a bit confusing) and will again feature Ichiban Kasuga, but Kiryu will also be more Stand out because of the secondary protagonist. The VIII will continue to be a turn-based RPG like its predecessor, while Gaiden returns to the series’ most famous action-fighting game. Side stories will also fill in the gaps between Yakuza 6 and 7, and what happened to Kiyru.
Gaiden is currently expected to release this year on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, while Yakuza 8 should launch on the same platform sometime in 2024.
