Like a Dragon: Unlimited Wealth Didn’t reach soaring heights friend world on Steam, but it sets a record in its own series.
It’s only January and we’ve already had some pretty big releases, with Palworld becoming a surprise hit on Steam *check Twitter to see what the latest ridiculous numbers are* In less than six days, the PC store alone Reached 8 million copies. Although the sales of “Yakuza: Infinite Fortune” on Steam are not that high, “Yakuza: Infinite Fortune” launched last week also performed very well on Steam, with the number of simultaneous online players reaching a peak of 46,161 over the weekend. A new series high (via SteamDB).

By comparison, last year’s Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased the Name peaked at around 13,737 players at launch, meaning Fortune is definitely the most popular game in the series. In third place is Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the first game to introduce the series’ current protagonist, Kasuga Ichiban, with a peak of 9,535. It’s safe to say that the series has definitely grown in popularity on Steam over the past few years, especially since we have no way of knowing how it will perform on consoles.

Yakuza: Infinite Fortune was released last week to critical acclaim across the board, including a review from our very own Mark. While critics and fans alike have responded positively to the game, there have been some frustrations – many didn’t like the way the game handled DLC, such as new game add-ons being locked behind a paywall. There are also a range of add-ons that can boost your stats, and while it’s not necessary, its existence has caused some ire from fans.
Excitement or not, players are clearly very happy with the game, so it’s no surprise that it’s doing so well on Steam. Although I do doubt it can catch up to Palworld.
