Warning: Spoilers for the first season of the Fallout TV series ahead.

The producers of the Amazon Fallout TV series have now confirmed that Mr. House, the box man from Fallout: New Vegas, will indeed appear in some capacity in Season 2. We might have expected this, considering we already knew the story took place in New Vegas and House had a cameo in Season 1, but hey, they’ve cleared all doubts by speaking the truth.

The news comes from a recent interview with Variety by showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who revealed that House “will be involved” in Season 2. In what form? Well, that’s the question.

While Wagner did say that “many” of the show’s main characters “go to Las Vegas,” and added that “Las Vegas in the Fallout world is Robert House’s hometown,” that’s about as many details as we get. Naturally, some have begun discussing what House’s appearance means for the New Vegas ending.

Before we get too far into speculation, though, it’s worth noting that both Bethesda and the show’s producers have been steadfast in their insistence that what happens on the show won’t have any impact on the canon of Obsidian’s Fallout franchise, so it would be odd to see them publicly change their stance regarding House.

This is probably why most fans in the Fallout subreddit seemed to agree with me after the story reveal – we’ll probably see more flashbacks to before the war and learn how the world got into this mess in the first place.

Given that a large part of House’s legend is about the measures he took to turn pre-war Las Vegas (or at least the Strip) into a place that could be resurrected after the bombs fell, it will certainly be interesting to see how he put all his plans into action – from hiding a fortress full of security under Fort Hill to shooting down the warheads when the bombs fell, to even ordering some kind of platinum chip.

Then again, his influence on the post-war Mojave will likely have to be acknowledged in some way, and the series’ protagonists will be traveling to the Mojave, so who knows what consequences that will bring. Maybe we’ll only get a shot inside Lucky 38 once and find out if he’s still fighting, or if Yes Man just didn’t manage to change the set screen saver.
