Since Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter, the Blue Bird social network has been the subject of much debate about its management. And this novelty is unlikely to improve things.
Last February, billionaire Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, promised that content creators on the social network would receive a share of the compensation for the ads that appear in response to their tweets. In the end we had to wait 6 months for this feature to finally appear, and again… Since it’s already causing a scandal due to its very specific implementation.
Make money from Twitter, yes, but…
Over the past few days, dozens of accounts have shared screenshots of notifications to indicate they would get their share of the ad revenue. Good news for them, for some this sum could even reach $100,000. Unfortunately, the calculation period is not specified and what is worse, it does not actually concern everyone. Currently, Twitter’s monetization rules state that to participate in the program, you must have at least 5 million views of your tweets in the last three months. Of course, you must also subscribe to the Twitter Blue program. So far so good, many users are entitled on paper. In fact, however, only a small proportion of them have/will receive a payment. In fact, a Twitter Blue account with 300,000 subscribers made the request and according to a response from the Twitter company, the monetization system only affects select profiles. How are these selected? Secret.
Twitter and its funny politics
According to initial feedback, the profiles in question did not make a specific request, but they all seem to have the same thing in common: they are part of the same political faction (Republican in this case for American accounts) or move in the same ideological sphere (anti). -woke up, etc.) as well as a connection to Musk himself. This is the case, for example, with MrBeast, who is already a multi-millionaire and spreads Tesla novelties. The same goes for the creator of Dogecoin. Some don’t even respect Twitter’s internal laws, like Andrew Tate, who takes advantage of monetization when he’s accused of human trafficking and rape and posting numerous sexist messages. A scandal that has only just begun. Another big mystery that at least lets us see that the company’s coffers aren’t that empty anymore and everything is being done to keep the influencers.
