In less than a week, Palworld has already released a Pokemon mod, as if the game wasn’t similar enough to the series.
You know, I know, we all know, Palworld looks a lot like Pokemon in places, from the design that has drawn some accusations of plagiarism, to the act of having to throw balls at them to catch them. That’s where the similarities end, considering it’s more of a survival game, but content creator and modder ToastedShoes is working hard to make Palworld feel more like Pokemon. The YouTuber teased an upcoming video of his showcasing the mod, which you can watch for yourself below.

Soon you’ll see the one and only Ash Ketchum taking over your player character’s place, wearing his classic red and white hat, as well as the not-so-classic bow and arrows he uses to fight. This looks like a massive mod, because not only does Ash replace your own character, but all of your besties are replaced by Pokémon like Pikachu, Totela, Sobak, and more. In addition, certain characters have become Ash’s companions, such as Brock and Misty, and the first boss battle is one of his old enemies, Jesse from Team Rocket. This is a pretty comprehensive looking mod, which is impressive considering the game released last Friday.

Palworld was an instant success in its first few days on sale, with sales continuing to rise Five million copies sold in three days. It also became the second most paid game on Steam in terms of concurrent users, with only one game beating it, and for a game that wasn’t until most people pointed it out and said “ha, Pokemon with guns, interesting” That’s a bit ridiculous. “. Just go to show, give a Pokémon a bullet and they’ll shoot for a day, but give a Pokémon a gun and they’ll sell millions of copies.”
