If, like me, you can’t get enough publisher partnerships Square Enix and developers ninja teamyou may be counting down to a new day Stranger in Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins Downloadable content.
Titled “Trials of the Dragon King,” we learned today that the game will embrace chaos and launch on July 20 – but there’s an interesting little twist in the DLC for longtime Final Fantasy demons. Trials of the Dragon King includes new jobs, weapons, accessories, and new gear categories, as well as new areas, stories, and startup challenges. But one thing stands out.
If you’ve played the base game — perhaps one of the best 3/5 games I’ve ever played — you’ll know this title is the origin story of FFI’s Big Bad.
Well, it stands to reason that the DLC will see you fight the hero of the first game; the glorious warrior. “You’ll die here,” he says in the trailer, “and I’ll live forever.” Okay.
Of course, Warriors of Light isn’t alone — the main character of the first game is rocking the series’ famous Bahamut as a backup. That would be the titular Dragon King. Check out the trailer to see what kind of battle this will be (read: tough); Bahamut has sweepers, ranged blasts, devastating melee attacks, and more. Expect Mega Flare to be done in one go. charming.
If you want more surprises for your Jill, you’ll be happy to note that anyone who purchases a Season Pass for Stranger Things: Final Fantasy Origins will receive Trials of the Dragon King along with the upcoming “Rift Wanderer” (Gilgamesh?) and “Different Futures” (Bhunivelze?) quests.
Stranger in Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store, and the DLC will launch on all platforms on July 20.
