You can play the next Assassin’s Creed sooner than you think

Assassins, Creed, Play, sooner

It turns out that the next Assassin’s Creed you’ll be able to play is actually Jade, as the mobile game goes into closed beta next month.

Ubisoft announced today that Assassin’s Creed: Emerald, developed by Level Infinite, will begin its global closed beta on Android and iOS on August 3, just a few weeks away. If you’re interested in trying out the upcoming game, you can sign up for the closed beta on the game’s official website. No word yet on whether everyone who signs up will be accepted, but this is a closed beta, which does mean not everyone will join.

Assassin’s Creed Emerald debuted last September as part of the Assassin’s Creed bundle. There are two points worth noting. One is that this will be the first time the game has landed in China in an open world environment, and the other is that this will be the first time that the fully open world “Assassin’s Creed” will be released on mobile devices. Some footage did leak last year, and it does look like the full Assassin’s Creed experience, but we’ll know more once players start getting their hands on the game.

“Explore Xia’s path in Assassin’s Creed: Code Jade, set in the third century BC during one of China’s first unified dynasties,” a press release describes the game. “From the Great Wall outside the empire to Xianyang, the imperial capital, travel through a world full of ancient history and hidden dangers. Resist the Huns, disintegrate plots, take on greater responsibilities, and meet new challenges.”

The closed beta will be a great way to keep you busy while you wait for the release of Assassin’s Creed Phantasm this October. We got to see the game in action during a lengthy gameplay demo last month, and it sure looks like a return to its roots.
