Can artificial intelligence replace Michael Graf?
This has recently been joined by another interesting trend: more and more videos are being published on YouTube that use AI image generation to give well-known games and films the look of 80s dark fantasy films. In the case of Diablo 1, this jump has been particularly successful.
This is what Diablo 1 looks like as a dark fantasy film
Anyone who knows fantasy pearls from the 80s like Conan the Barbarian, Willow or The Neverending Story knows that these films have their own style. The special mixture of dim lighting, puppetry and practical effects is almost non-existent these days.
But fortunately there are still some resourceful users of the mid-journey AI: They managed to feed the AI with complicated parameters in order to create new images with this very special look. In particular, the action RPG Forefather Diablo looks incredibly alive – but see for yourself:

The DeusVultAI video features many well-known characters and locations from Diablo 1, including the blacksmith Griswold, the cursed village of Tristram, Skeleton King Leoric, and of course, villain Diablo himself.
So you can create your own dark fantasy images
Reddit user Bukkirabo has also tried to turn Diablo into a dark fantasy film with the help of artificial intelligence:

On Reddit, he also provided an explanation of how you can create your own images in this style with the midjourney AI.
- Sign up on the Midjourney’s website for the AI beta – it’s free, but requires a Discord account.
- Read them Instructions for using the AI by.
- Use the Newbie channel on the Midjourney Discord server to create your own images. This works by her /imagine
He used the following information for the images in his video:
35mm film still from a live fantasy movie of Diablo II, a barbarian standing next to a campfire looking at a dark forest in the background, upward angle, hero shot, facing away from the camera, symmetrical, foggy, night, the barbarian is bald, have pale blue stripe painted on his skin, wearing leather armor with bone ornaments, wearing a diry iron shoulder armor with spikes and straps, cinematic, cinematography --ar 3:2 --v 4
We experimented with the parameter and adjusted it to show a Diablo 2 Necromancer with long white hair instead of a bald barbarian – the result is quite impressive:
