As always, we start Monday with a preview of the new game releases of the week. After last week’s fans of horror shooters really got their money’s worth, this week could be the turn of strategy fans, because the latest installment of a popular series is waiting for you.

The new Spellforce could become a real insider strategy tip

You are guaranteed to know the Spellforce series for its unique mix of real-time strategy and role-playing games. The latest spin-off Spellforce: Conquest of Eo also relies on an exciting genre mix – but instead of real-time strategy, 4X strategy and turn-based battles are combined with role-playing elements.

In the procedurally generated story campaign, you are a magic student whose master has been kidnapped by the magic circle. You accept his legacy, continuously expand your domain, research dozens of spells and recruit over 100 different units for your army. However, a troop can only ever consist of up to five units and one hero, so the battles remain fairly clear.

Our Maurice already had a lot of fun in the first few hours of play, as you can see in the video above. Strategy expert Reiner Hauser also sees a lot of potential in the new Spellforce – you can find more information in our preview:
