Some Bethesda games are currently experiencing their second spring: Fallout 4 is attracting many new players and returnees thanks to the successful Amazon series. Starfield releases a big mega update and fulfills some fan wishes. And Skyrim… well, as we all know, Skyrim always works.
We wanted to know from you: What is your favorite Bethesda game? Over 2,700 GameStar users voted. Your favorite should surprise very few people.
Your favorite Bethesda game
Of course you vote with a full 43 percent and a gap of 710 votes The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim at number 1
Fallout 3 (3rd place, 11 percent), TES 4: Oblivion (4th place, 10 percent) and Morrowind (5th place, 8 percent) are quite close to each other. Although Starfield is the newest game from Bethesda, the space role-playing game only made it to sixth place with 6 percent of all votes.
Lots of praise, but also criticism
Lots of love for your favorites in the comments. Plus user verrherr writes something like:
Wow, that’s difficult to decide. I simply think the Elder Scrolls lore is the best developed, especially because of ESO. The soundtracks and the implementation of the screams in Skyrim were great.
I think the Fallout universe with its dark, satirical humor is simply world-class. I found New Vegas’ hardcore mode particularly gripping, and Fallout 3’s opening in particular […] So after careful consideration, my vote goes just for Fallout 3.
Skyrim may have taken first place for you, but many of the comments show that it was the mods that made the experience really memorable. BigYundol writes something like:
By far I wasted the most time on Skyrim. Mainly because of the extensive range of mods and tinkering around with the game a lot.
RavenClaws agrees:
Definitely Skyrim, I spent about 2450 hours there but never played the main story. Thanks to mods, something is always possible.
Although Starfield, Bethesda’s latest project, also receives praise here and there, there is also a certain disillusionment in the comments. Melone writes something like:
Skyrim was still good, but in many aspects it was a step backwards from its predecessors. And after that there was only rubbish.
But his disappointment with Bethesda’s development will never be able to overshadow all the wonderful hours that myrthan has already experienced with the games:
Bethesda will forever have a place in my heart. No matter what. Simply because they have already made so many great games. Same with Blizzard or Bioware. I don’t have to buy their new games. I don’t either. But for the games that I celebrated and played, in addition to criticism, I will always have a good word to say and be grateful for great entertainment.
