Your favorite Valve game wins by a clear margin

I wonder if Gabe Newell also voted in our poll?

I wonder if Gabe Newell also voted in our poll?

A few weeks ago we wanted to know which Valve game is your favorite. Half-Life 3? Portal 3? Or maybe Left 4 Dead 3? The choice is huge!

You voted diligently and chose the winner. The podium is also more than impressive in terms of playing quality. Of course, we also take a look at the losers and believe us, some of them got a few resounding slaps in the face, phew!

Your favorite Valve game is pulling out the crowbar – twice!

Coin ans Werk, Mr. Freeman. The doctor of science and world saviour conscientiously responded to this call to work. The result: Half-Life 2 doesn’t dethrone anyone!

Even 20 years (yes, we’re getting old!) after its release, the shooter masterpiece is anchored in the hearts of many GameStar users. 29 percent (485 votes) is enough for first place.

In second place comes another victory for science: Half-Life 1 (19 percent / 317 votes) defies the aching joints and holds its own against the youth with the stubbornness of a grandfather.

Third and fourth place go to GLaDOS, sorry, Portal 2 (18 percent / 300 votes) and Portal (6 percent / 103 votes). So a total of 403 users can look forward to a cake!

Next up is Half-Life: Alyx: The brave freedom fighter has no cake, but she does have a mechanical dog. And she is the proud owner of 5th place in your ranking, which is responsible for 92 votes (6 percent).

Exciting: Multiplayer hits like Counter-Strike 1.6 and Team Fortress 2 only land in the middle field. In general, all iterations of Counter-Strike have had an unexpectedly difficult time with youas well as the two Left 4 Deads.

Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and Dota Underlords landed at the bottom of the poll with a single vote each. If anyone wants to, they can come out in the comments – you really are loyal fans!

Speaking of fans: Let’s let some of you have your say. Our Plus user PenSweterson voted for Gordon Freeman’s debut mainly because the shooter revolutionized the genre:

I voted for the original Half-Life. Not that I didn’t think part 2 was great or that I spent way too many hours playing CS.

It’s more because Half-Life 1 simply took first-person shooters so much further. If Unreal (which I think is far too often forgotten these days) had taken a step in the right direction, Half-Life had taken a huge leap just a few months later.

K0nsumBauer, on the other hand, is still fascinated by Portal and its sequel:

For me, Portal is clearly the most unique thing Valve has ever done. Apart from its own successor, I simply don’t know of any other game that has built such elegant puzzles.

By the way, our survey was not complete – thanks to community member nokrahs, who correctly pointed this out to us:

My favorite Valve game? STEAM, of course.

What do you say about the results of the survey? Are you surprised or did you expect this panel? Which option did you vote for and would you like to explain why exactly? Are you looking forward to the upcoming release of Half-Life: Portal 4 Dead Underlords 1.6: Source? Feel free to write it in the comments?
