Starting today, YouTube will limit video quality to reduce bandwidth usage.
According to a Bloomberg report, YouTube will reduce the default quality of videos to standard definition in the next 30 days.
720p and higher streaming will still be available, but you must select this option when you click the gear icon.
Currently, the quality of streaming video depends on the strength of your internet connection. Normally, the default setting when you watch a video may be less than 720p. Depending on the mood of AT & T, sometimes our default value is 144p, but on a beautiful day, the video will automatically play at 420p.
Google changed the European default quality at the request of regulators to reduce bandwidth usage. Video streaming service Netflix previously reduced bandwidth in Europe over the next 30 days at the request of regulators.
Google said in a statement that YouTube usage increased during the day due to school closures associated with coronaviruses and more people working from home.
Sony announced that starting today, PlayStation network download speeds in Europe may slow down to "retain access to the entire Internet community." At the same time, Microsoft is monitoring the global performance and usage of its Xbox services to ensure it is adapting to new growth and demand.
