Update from April 10, 1:09 p.m.: We mentioned the possibility in the original article, and it happened there. The world record in Elden Ring was beaten again thanks to some further optimizations and is now included 12 minutes and 13 seconds. The record below has already been topped by 20 seconds, as you can see here.
How these insane times are possible in Elden Ring? You can find out in the following article.
Original message from April 10, 2022, 12:07 p.m.: How long did it take you to see the intended ending of Elden Ring? days? weeks? The YouTuber Mitchriz needed just under 13 minutes. Sounds impossible, but of course it is on the intended path.
So here, as you can probably guess, some glitches were used that had already made previous Fromsoftware games popular and worth seeing speedrun candidates. Especially the so-called Zips
Above the clouds freedom is limitless
Simply running from boss to boss and sending them to the mat in accordance with the rules is of course not possible if you are in a slump in the game 12 minutes and 33 seconds want to end. That’s why YouTuber Mitchriz primarily used Zips, which is ultimately a game logic glitch and allows the character to simply skip entire areas by gliding across the game world.
What does it all look like in action? You can watch the record run in full length here:

How it works is clear, but if you haven’t gotten any smarter and want to try zipping yourself, you can do this as follows:
- Equip your character with a shield and assume a block stance
- Press the W key at the right moment (that’s “take a run-up,” so to speak)
Just two steps? It sounds simple, but it isn’t. Because here it simply depends on the precise timing when you press the W key. Because you have to get the block animation right, otherwise nothing happens. You can find more details about the surprisingly complex process in the Speedsouls-Wiki read.
There’s still room for improvement
Mitchriz himself is very satisfied with his record run. He speaks of one absolutely crazy run
. The Zips were clean from start to finish. At the same time, however, he also indicates that even a little more time could be rasped from the stopwatch, since the so-called Mega-Zip ended up requiring several attempts.
Amusing detail: Although the Elden Ring is significantly larger than its ancestors in terms of circumference, it can even be speedrun faster thanks to the zip technology! The current world records are 21 minutes (Dark Souls), 14 minutes (Dark Souls 2) and even 31 minutes (Dark Souls 3).
What’s next for Elden Ring? This question is on the minds of fans around the world, leading them to speculate happily about what content will make its way to the Between Lands with upcoming DLCs:
