The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom just came out, but its director is clearly already thinking about the next game.
If you’ve spent any time playing Zelda: Tear of Kingdoms in the past day, you’ve probably realized that this thing is big. There’s easily 100 hours of things to do there, and probably more, so that’s probably going to keep us busy for years to come. That’s a good thing, too, because apparently director Hidemaro Fujibayashi is already thinking about his next game.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Fujibayashi and Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma talked about the game, including some of their favorite side quests being Kingdom Tears, among other topics (thanks GamesRadar). The funniest thing is actually a tweet from Zachary Small, the author behind the interview, who writes, “… Fujibayashi seems to have plans for the next Zelda game – even though he didn’t even tell Aonuma However.”
Fujibayashi, I beg you, slow down. I barely finished a dungeon and you’re already thinking about your next game? It’s okay, take your time, I’m not in a hurry.
That wasn’t the only thing Fujibayashi shared about future games. In another interview with Polygon, the director was asked about concepts he might want to explore in future games, which he didn’t do with Tears of the Kingdom. “I have some thoughts, but I’m not sure I can share them here,” he laughs, though Aonuma also chimes in with a smile, “Yeah, no, that’s going to get me in trouble. So please don’t.” ’ Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what they have in store!
Interestingly, the same Polygon interview revealed that the Ascend ability was added to the game because the developers liked to cheat.
Oh — it seems Fujibayashi already has plans for the next Zelda game — though he hasn’t even told Aonuma yet. https://t.co/MRYoyzGRA2
