Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Players Prove There’s No Right Way to Play

Kingdom, Play, players, Prove, tears, Zelda

players are quickly proving, as in breath of the wildthere is no “right” way to play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of Kingdoms.

One of the best parts of Breath of the Wild is that there isn’t any single method that lets you do any specific thing. Sure, Nintendo has obvious intentions for certain shrines and regions, but that doesn’t mean you have to do that – speedrunners are proving that better than anyone. The same goes for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players have shown that there’s no set way you have to do something. Advance warning of shrines and early hours.

For example, take this shrine that requires you to hit targets with rolling balls. Apparently, what Nintendo wants you to do is, use your abilities to create a bat, hit the ball down the ramp, and hit the target. But Reddit user TiedSuite2 clearly found that anything related to an Ultrahand can fall apart with enough force if it’s fast enough, and they managed to hit the mark with a simple log. Neat!

And this shrine, which again has an obvious intended resolution, doesn’t really matter to Garrett Kidney who shared the clip. In it, you use your abilities and Zonai batteries to cross the chasm. Instead, Link just grinds through the rails on his shield, because you can do that.

It’s not just shrines that players take a unique approach to. The world itself is full of mini-puzzles that require you to solve them as best you can, even if it’s just getting to another island. On the starting island, you’ll find that you have to use minecarts to get across the different islands, and one particular intersection has some broken rails, making it a daunting task. So Reddit user FlashxFlash just made a train of minecarts, and it works really well!

While as Ding-Dong-Dang demonstrated on Reddit, that doesn’t mean there aren’t wrong ways to do things. Hard work is the most important thing!

If you do find yourself needing some shrine help because you can’t find your way around, we have guides for the first four of the game (namely the Ukouh, In-isa, Gutanbac, and Nachoyah shrines).
