creator of Genshin Impact revealed its latest game, Zenless Zone Zeroa ridiculously stylish roguelike with a modern setting.
Friday (May 13), Hoyovers Here’s a sneak peek at the studio’s next game, Zenless Zone Zero, an “urban fantasy ARPG.” Right off the bat, the game looks like it’s going to have a lot of style, with gorgeous, top-notch character designs and fast-paced action combat. The trailer is quick to differentiate it from Genshin Impact, which clearly has a fantasy influence, while Zenless Zone Zero looks more like jet radio or The world ends because of you.
According to the press release, the game features Roguelike gameplay where players take on the role of “agents” to explore Hollows. These mysterious voids apparently “multiplied out of thin air, creating a disordered dimension where mysterious monsters called ‘Earth’ roam.” It sounds like these Hollows will feature heavily procedural generation as part of the roguelike aspect.Other than that, the gameplay looks similar to hunting angel witch.
Prospective players can also sign up for Zenless Zone Zero’s beta testing.Interestingly, survey players need to complete reference games such as Hades, dead cells, Devil May Cryand Soul Games, so it’s clear what the developers are looking for in the game.
The game is currently releasing on PC and iOS, although given the popularity of Genshin Impact across all of its platforms, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Zenless Zone Zero release on other platforms.
Given HoYoverse’s other games, it’s likely to be free-to-play and likely have some kind of gacha element, but whether it will mimic Genshin Impact’s monetization or do something different is currently up in the air.
