If you didn’t know already, Zenless Zone Zero is about to get its next big content update, which will take us to the Outer Rim. To celebrate, HoYoVerse has released a beautiful new cinematic to mark the event. It features the entire Sons of Calydon gang in all their glory, as well as a shower scene as a finale. Obviously.
HoYoVerse has set a precedent for flashy cinematic special effects, not only outside of the game but also during key story moments. Often, these effects are action-packed and flashy, which is one of the main benefits of keeping up with the pace of the game. Lately, it’s also started to get extremely raunchy, a trend started by Jane Doe’s multiple appearances on the game’s official channel.

I mean, look at it. It’s no secret that sex appeal is a trump card in the hands of video game companies, especially gacha games that make their livings from selling character banner currency. It’s also worth noting that in games like Zenless Zone Zero, the characters are the core of the appeal for most players. Sure, gameplay is important, and story is important, but a character that really moves you can be the glue that keeps veteran players hooked on their favorite game.
If you’ve stopped playing Zenless for a while, and I fully admit I have since it’s been a very busy month releasing games, these big updates are always worth coming back for. Not only do they usually include new quests, but it’s also very rewarding to catch up on the storyline. There’s a lot to like about HoYoVerse, but for me, their writers are top notch. Bring on the new twist!
