After months of speculation and several leaks, Zenless Zone Zero finally has a release date. The game will be released on July 4th worldwide on all platforms – PC, mobile devices, and PS5.
The significant price cut was simply announced on social media, rather than the typical promotion from HoYoVerse – the company is known for its frequent Zenless Zone Zero trailers over the past few months. In a public statement, the company stated the following.
“Thank you for your continued interest and support for Zenless Zone Zero. Zenless Zone Zero will be officially released on all platforms on July 4th. We look forward to seeing you on Sixth Street after we get permission to enter New Eridu.” In addition to the announcement, a fun little competition was held where a few people could win a PS5, a mechanical keyboard, and a character stand before June 3rd.
This sets a deadline for those who haven’t pre-registered for Zenless Zone Zero yet, allowing them to do so at any time. Currently, there are just over 35 million pre-registered players, which gives them in-game currency, materials, and free characters. If the game can get another 5 million (easy, I know), the community will lock in the final milestone.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a July release date has been rumored. A few months ago, a July 3rd launch was announced on the Google Store, and just last week, a Reddit user posted a mysterious July 4th PS5 launch date that was not visible on either the North American or EU store pages. We couldn’t confirm the latter at the time, so didn’t write about it, but with the context of this official reveal and the time zone shenanigans, it’s safe to say that last week’s leak is real.
This might also explain the sudden delay in the release date. The Zenless Zone Zero team has always been willing to come forward with information after accidental (or even malicious) leaks. In my opinion, th is is a smart move – it is better to face and acknowledge any information on the Internet rather than let speculation grow.
Regardless, it’s a good reason to mark your calendar and set aside a few days to take a break. Let me know what you think of this below!
