If you feel a little bored Zoo Tycoon Video games, don’t worry, because a board game adaptation is in the works.
Starting with the bad puns, Kickstarter for Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game, launching later this month with a planned release next year, is described as “your zoo in a box with over 230 animal Meeples. A A highly themed board game experience for 2-4 players” (Thanks to Eurogamer).
Like video games, the board game will let you build “a zoo dedicated to large animals like lions, gorillas or elephants to attract and stimulate guests,” as publisher Treecer explains. “Or partner with national parks on conservation and reintroduce endangered species into the wild.
“Strategically place food stalls and gift shops to meet the needs of your guests while generating income to help your zoo continue to grow and prosper. The more money you generate, the more options you have to create the zoo of your dreams! ”
With over 34 different species to choose from, most of which are represented by 230 animal meeples, you’ll have “a wealth of options to choose your favourite”.
As in real life, board game versions of animals will have specific individual needs, Treecer notes, so you have to carefully balance “group and enclosure size, social composition, and guest proximity” to keep both animals and guests happy. “Happiness will play a particularly important role in animal breeding and add new animal options to your zoo.”
Like last week, Zoo Tycoon isn’t the only video game being brought to the tabletop world Atlus
