2020 BAFTA Awards Online Broadcast Due to Coronavirus

Awards, BAFTA, broadcast, coronavirus, due, Online

This year's BAFTA Games Awards are the latest event to hear the result of ongoing concerns about new coronavirus outbreaks. Instead of hosting its own red carpet event, BAFTA decided to turn the tide and distribute the winners online.

A statement on the change shared today, confirming that the live broadcast will be broadcast on the same day that the actual event was scheduled, April 2:

Despite growing concerns about the distribution of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the number of nominees due to travel abroad, we have decided to change the format of the upcoming BAFTA Games of the Month to a truly spectacular event held by Queen Elizabeth. London has gone to an online live broadcast, which will be broadcast worldwide on the same day (Thursday 2 April).

The health and well being of our guests and our staff remains a priority, so there will be no live viewers and we are now in trouble to inform all our nominees, guests, collaborators and vendors. The new route will announce the winners of the Games Awards and we look forward to sharing more updates in the coming weeks.

The nominees for the show were announced last week, via Luigi's House 3 it does well for itself.

Other recently canceled or modified coronavirus sporting events include the GDC, the 2020 Pokémon Europe International Championship, and the E3 2020.
