Acclaimed Capcom director Hideaki Itsuno, behind a number of key video game franchises such as Powerstone, Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma, has announced that he is leaving Capcom. The news was shared on X by a veteran Capcom employee who says he will be developing a new game for an unspecified video game studio starting in September. In his message to fans, he said, “I hope to create fun, beautiful games that are as memorable, or even more memorable, than the ones I’ve created so far.”

“I have an announcement for all my followers: At the end of August 2024, I am leaving Capcom after 30 years and 5 months. Thank you for your many years of support of the games and characters I’ve been responsible for. I hope you will continue to support Capcom games and characters. From September I will start developing a new game in a new environment. I hope to create fun, beautiful games that are as memorable, or even more memorable than the ones I’ve created so far. Stay tuned for my next creation!”
