After going through a few hoops, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has finally launched on Nintendo Switch. As exciting as it is for many fans of the series, it may be even more exciting for the development team.
WayForward director James Montagna, who worked alongside Nintendo on a “reimagined” version of the classic turn-based strategy game, took to social media to acknowledge the fact that his “lifelong dream” had come true – calling it the “most anticipated”, surreal and exciting day “, thanking both his team and the fans of the game.
James Montagna: I had the honor of developing Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp together with Nintendo!
Today, my lifelong dream has come true. But it’s my team and our friends at Nintendo whose efforts I have to acknowledge for making this a reality. On behalf of all of us, enjoy Advance Wars!
Wow, I can’t reply to everyone, but thanks!! This is simultaneously the most anticipated, surreal and exciting day of my life
Montagna also goes on to mention that he won’t be able to say much more about the game and “can’t really answer questions,” which isn’t all that surprising considering it’s Nintendo’s first-party release. On the plus side, the WayForward team celebrated this special occasion with a themed cake:
This updated edition of Advance Wars includes two games in one and comes with 3D graphics, voice, online play and many other improvements. In our Nintendo Life edition of the Switch, we awarded it an ‘excellent’ 9 out of 10 stars – calling it a wonderful reimagining.
