Update #2 []: The Verge managed to extract the Switch 2 measurements from Dbrand CEO Adam Ijaz, who says he took them from “a 3D scan of real hardware.”
According to Ijaz, the Switch 2's dimensions are as follows:
- Width (with Joy-Con): 270 mm
- Width (without Joy-Con): 200 mm
- Height: 116 mm
- Thickness: 14mm
For comparison, the current Switch OLED model measures:
- Width (with Joy-Con): 242 mm
- Height: 102 mm
- Thickness: 13.9 mm
The Dbrand CEO adds that the Joy-Con appears to connect to the console magnetically, confirming previous reports. The company is so confident that it even designed its Switch 2 case so that the Joy-Con can be removed without removing the console from the case itself.
Ijaz also confirms the existence of a square button below the Home button, marked with the letter C, but he is not sure what its purpose is.
Update #1 []:
Well, this is quite brave – said the CEO of Dbrand InsiderGaming that the device image in the case is the actual Switch 2.
If this is true, then it really seems like the Switch 2 won't be too different from the OG Switch.
More on the potential case and console below…
Original story: Canadian manufacturer of accessories Dbrand — known for his controversial tricks on social media — has shared images of what he claims is a case for the upcoming successor to the Nintendo Switch.
As VGC reports, the company shared a teaser for the case on Thursday X (formerly Twitter) along with the statement “We will not be answering questions at this time.”
Now, however, not only have a few pictures of the case been released, but a link to the product page. The page has a transparent rotating representation of the case with the console inside it along with the word Switch 2 KillSwitch.
The case itself is consistent with many of the rumors that have been floating around, including an extra button on the right Joy-Con next to the Home button. And on the render you can see the hexadecimal code that VGC converted to text — it says “why are you decrypting this”.
If you go to the website menu, there's even a section under Games and Nintendo for Switch 2, but it doesn't go anywhere right now.
Of course, given Dbrand's history — such as issuing a Kingdom Clone Sticker for Switch right around the time Nintendo itself released Tears of the Kingdom OLED, which (via VGC) wrote “screw the lawyers” on the dock — this might just be their way of poking the bear .
But the disclosure of the case adds to a number of potential revelations and rumors that have surfaced over the past few weeks. Last week, Chinese vendors began listing alleged Switch 2 accessories for sale online. Earlier this week, a 3D printed model was sent to SwitchUp, fans spotted potential images of the upcoming console in a trailer, and rumors surfaced that the Switch 2 would support Samsung MicroSD cards.
Time will tell, though it's highly likely we won't find out anything official until 2025. And hey, Nintendo acknowledged the future in a short reel at The Game Awards yesterday, saying “there's more to come.”
