By now, you’re more than likely aware of the news that Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, the developer behind Palworld. Since the news broke, Pocketpair has responded. Meanwhile, the online gaming community was gradually digesting the news.
One of them is analyst Dr. Serkan Toto, who previously spoke to GamesRadar about it. Toto believes that “this lawsuit would never have happened if Palworld had 500 daily users on Steam. [Nintendo] he would say, ‘ok, whatever, let’s leave these guys alone; the game will die’”. However, the game not only survived, but became a huge success. It has sold many millions of copies, is going on multiple platforms, and there are even plans for merchandising and anime.
According to Toto, this probably prompted Nintendo to take action. “You can’t do that with Nintendo. I understand that Nintendo was foaming at the mouth, saying, ‘Look, these guys are going cross-platform, and they’re making anime, and they’re selling their friends.’ And Nintendo felt threatened or disrespected or just angry, so they dropped this bombshell on them”.
