Atari has announced that it is reviving its 40-year-old arcade shooter Quantum for the Nintendo Switch later this year, titled Quantum: Reloaded.
While no images or gameplay footage have been released at the time of writing, Atari has confirmed that the debut trailer for Quantum: Recharged will debut later this week at the Brazilian Independent Games (BIG) festival, so we’ll be sure to update this post with a trailer as soon as possible.
For now, here’s a look at what Atari has to say about Quantum: Recharged:
“IN Quantum: Reloaded, players must defeat waves of enemies by surrounding and trapping groups of enemies with their ship to create punitive dead zones that destroy them. Without built-in weapons, lasers or missiles to shoot down enemies, Quantum: Reloaded challenges players to avoid damage and progress through increasingly difficult levels by mastering the maneuverability of their ship.
“A combination of frenetic gameplay and quick problem solving, Quantum: Reloaded is a visual cosmic wonder complemented by an energetic original soundtrack by award-winning composer Megan McDuffie, with uplifting melodies and infectious rhythms.”
When Quantum: Recharged launches later this year, it will join the likes of Asteroids: Recharged, Caverns of Mars: Recharged, and Missile Command: Recharged, among others available on Switch.
