Earlier this week, football fans were surprised when Bandai Namco announced that it would issue Captain Tsubasa: Rise Of New Champions on Nintendo Switch. In case you didn't know, it's been a full decade since the release of the last game, based on a manga series by Joichi Takahashi in 1981.
Did you know, though, that this new entry is probably not going to show up in some places? In an interview with US Gamer yesterday, Bandai Namco product marketing director Dennis Lee revealed that the Japanese publisher is scheduled for a special release in Latin America – largely due to the popularity of the anime series in the region. Finally, it has been decided that people in North America can enjoy:
When we reviewed the game, we realized that it was a really fun game. So even if they don't know Tsubasa and characters, football fans and arcade-style sports lovers can have a great time playing it. As a result, we decided that we would never release it in Latin America.
This arcade title for football is expected to hit somewhere by 2020. When we arrive, we will contain many gameplay modes including news, and online comparisons. On-field, you will also be able to pull offensive and offensive moves, such as no other football title currently available.
