PLAYISM and WSS Playground have announced that upcoming pixel art Metroidvania title Blade Chimera will launch on Switch soon August.
While they haven’t confirmed an exact date, it at least gives us an idea of when we can dive in. And gosh, it looks stunning, doesn’t it? The latest trailer showcases more of the game’s combat, which includes both melee and ranged abilities, along with unique movement mechanics.
The game is being developed by Team Ladybug, who previously worked on titles such as Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth and Touhou Luna Nights, with a particularly strong ability to create beautiful pixel art sprites.
Let’s recall the official synopsis:
The game takes place in the near future, where warped monsters and ghosts have appeared out of nowhere, overrunning cities and forcing people to fight against these creatures they call “demons” in an all-out demon war. After 30 years of merciless war, the surviving humans have united under the Missa Association, a religious group formed by a leader who knows the secret of fighting demons. Cities and civilizations continue to thrive despite the now regular sightings of bizarre monsters.
Three years ago, a man known as Shin was rescued from the ruins in a cryopreserved state. Without any memory of his past, he quickly becomes one of the association’s best warriors and protectors.
However, when Shin encounters a brilliantly beautiful demon named Lux, it feels oddly familiar. This sense of deja vu leads him to accept her, even if it means going against what society believes.
From that moment, the past begins to be slowly revealed, revealing the events that caused the city to take its current shape…
As soon as the exact release date for Blade Chimera is confirmed, we will be sure to let you know.
