The Nintendo Switch loses a very popular title, because it has now been confirmed that the hero shooter Paladins: Champions of the Realm will no longer be playable on the console in the future.

The hero shooter Paladins: Champions of the Realm has also been available for the Nintendo Switch since 2018, but the plug is now being pulled on the platform. Hi-Rez Studios will be pulling their first game ever released on the Nintendo console from there.

After some postponements, the title was first released in May 2018 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, but came to the Switch just a month later. Due to the playable heroes and shooter gameplay, the game is often compared to Overwatch, with many Paladins calling it one of the best fantasy shooters.

However, this will no longer be available on the switch in the future, as the makers have now confirmed on the website and via Twitter. After the upcoming update “Midnight Masquerade”, which is scheduled for the end of June, the platform is over. The reason given for this step is performance problems and “platform-specific problems” on the Nintendo console, which would prevent the game from reaching the targeted standard.

For this reason, Paladins and all DLC packs have already been removed from the eShop; a purchase is no longer possible. The creators encourage players to link their game progress to a Hi-Rez account so it doesn’t get lost. In the first reactions to the announcement of the step, numerous switch fans of the game were of course sobered.

While the Switch version will no longer be playable by the end of June 2023, Paladins: Champions of the Realm will remain available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One; these game versions are not affected.
