North America / Europe
…why is this so disturbing? It’s Kirby verbatim sucking the whole world in here, establishing his powers for the end of the world from the very beginning. Just kidding, just a little, but it’s a smart move to put the character’s key skill — his ability to draw all — on the box. The paper-like background is also a really cool effect, revealing what could be a nefarious world behind the curtains. It’s bright, colorful, quintessentially Kirby, with a star dominating the box as it should.
Japan
…why is this so cute? You might say “well, ugh!”, but we were just talking about Kirby’s awesome power. Here, we just want to pet him. The copy ability is shown here with all the different Kirbys on the box, with the standard pink ball in the middle. You can see a sword, hammer, dream, fire, umbrella, laser, beam and many, many others. Some of the minigames, like Quick Draw, are also praised on the box. And the white background helps the pink and yellow stars really pop. It’s cuteness overload.
