North America
It’s crunchy. That’s clear. It tells you exactly what you need to know. It’s fair to say that the North American box design for Kirby Super Star isn’t the most impressive of all. The gold logo and surrounding stars sit on a plain black background, with the focus firmly on the central pink ball and “8 games in one!” to brag. It tells you everything you need to know, but it would be nice to see a little more colors, right?
Europe
Woof! Now it’s a little more colorful. Aside from the obvious title change, the European release of Super Star is very similar to the North American variant. That is, forgive the bright pink background that makes the whole thing even more attractive.
Japan
Now this takes things in a different direction. Instead of dazzling customers with stars or bragging about how many games are included in the collection, Japanese design knows what we want: Kirby. This cover looks like it was burned into the wooden base and is about the title hero. No mudding here. Kirb looks directly into your soul as if to say “go on, do not buy this. I dare you.”
