Bravely Default II might have only just arrived on the Nintendo Switch, but questions are already being asked about future console entries in the series.
In this week’s issue of Famitsu, series producer Tomoya Asano has reiterated how there’s currently nothing actively in development on the console front in terms of new games. In saying this, he still expects next year’s 10th anniversary of the series to be a “little more active” than usual, and fans should look forward to it.
“As for any development of a new console game [for the Bravely series], I’m sorry, but there isn’t anything for the time being. However, since next year is the 10th anniversary, we expect things to be a little more active compared to an average year. Look forward to it.”
Back in September, Asano said the future of the series was still in the planning phase and admitted another major entry could potentially take up to three or four years to develop.
“Bravely Default II was well-received by fans and as a result, we’re hoping to continue the series as we feel we can pull it off once again. With that said, we’re still in the planning phase, and I suspect development will take another 3-4 years, so we’d appreciate if fans could bear with us.”
Most recently, Square Enix opened pre-registration for the mobile spin-off Bravely Default: Brilliant Lights in Japan via the App Store and Google Play.
