The United States will have a separate Nintendo NY launch event for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom, but if you live in Canada, Nintendo has confirmed that launch events will also take place there. However, it won’t be at an official Nintendo store, but GameStop.
Nintendo has confirmed that select GameStop locations in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia will celebrate the game’s launch starting May 11 at 11pm ET and ending with the game’s launch at midnight. Nintendo ambassadors will be in attendance, and Nintendo stated that there will be “exciting Legend of Zelda goodies on site for fun gifts, available while supplies last. There will also be giveaways for those who attend in a Legend of Zelda-related costume. Additional giveaways will be available for all event visitors until supplies last.”
But that is not all. There’s an extra special surprise for those attending the festivities in downtown Toronto. You see, Canadian superstar and huge Zelda fan Maitreyi Ramakrishnan will be in attendance. She will even have the honor of cutting the ribbon on the night to greet customers in the store. If you are interested in participating, a list of participating stores is available below. The list also includes when the festivities will begin in that province’s time zone.
