This weekend is EVO 2024. To celebrate the occasion, there have been plenty of fighting game announcements from multiple companies. One of them is Capcom, who recently announced that SNK Vs Capcom: SVC Chaos is now available on Steam and will be coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Well, it looks like Capcom isn’t done with crossover fighting games just yet. In fact, they are very interested in more. Shuhei Matsumoto, producer of Street Fighter 6 and Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection, said in an interview with Dexerto that “The development team at Capcom has big dreams. There might be a chance for a new Marvel vs Capcom game. There may be an opportunity for a new SNK game based on Capcom”.
Matsumoto continued, saying, “I don’t know. But if that were to happen, it would take some time and effort to make and release those types of games, but in the short term what we can do now is at least re-introduce those old legacy games to a new audience, people who might not have the chance to play it , as it may not be available on modern or current platforms. What we can at least do now is show that, hey, these series exist. We love these games. We hope you will too, and maybe in the future, if people become familiar with these series, maybe in the future there will be opportunities to make bigger games”.
