The story of Mega Man Battle Network takes place in the interconnected world of the near-future Net Society, which depends on computer programs known as Network Navigators (or NetNavi for short) to manage everything from their toasters to the city’s power grids. While the networked age brings all sorts of conveniences, it has also ushered in a wave of cybercrime that is eroding all levels of society. In these games, players take on the role of Lan Hikari using their PEPersonal Terminal (or PET) and its NetNavi, MegaMan.EXE, to confront the culprits behind these cyber crimes. Players control MegaMan.EXE as he explores the web, engages in web-based combat, and uses battle chips to gain devastating abilities capable of wiping out even the most sinister viruses.
The Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection features optional high-resolution filters that allow players smoother, less pixelated images. Players can turn the filters off/on at any time if they want to enjoy the original visuals of Battle Network games. Net surfers will also be able to access over 1,000 pieces of concept art, character sketches and official illustrations in the collection’s gallery. The “Isterious Data” section will feature exclusive artwork from past events and images of licensed merchandise from this era of Mega Man™ titles. If you want to rock out to some tunes while you browse all the art, the Music Player includes over 180 tracks from all 10 titles.
