Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, creator of the amazing Stardew Valley, sat down for an interview with Aftermath where he discussed a number of things, including Stardew Valley and his next project, Haunted Chocolatier. Barone admitted to the site that once he starts working on Stardew Valley, it’s very hard for him to stop because he’s always thinking of cool features that could be added to the game. As for his next Haunted Chocolatier project, Barone says that “When it’s ready, that’s when I’ll release it.”
“Once I open t he book on Stardew again, it’s always hard to close it again because I always want to add more things, improve it, make it cooler, make people happy,” Barone said. “It’s exciting. Every thing I add, I think about how people are going to play this and talk about it and love it. It’s going to be part of their experience. It could be a memory that they can keep forever. It’s a special thing. I’m hard is that I don’t want to do that.”
“[Fan expectation] it’s definitely putting pressure on me,” he said, “but it’s better to have a delayed game that’s actually good than a bad game that’s on time. When it’s done, I’ll put it up for sale. I’m not too worried about the pressure. I don’t feel like I owe anyone anything when it comes to Haunted Chocolatier. That’s the game I decide to make. I don’t need to succeed.”
