Coral island was a success with fans and critics when it launched in 2023 and was developed by Stairway Games and published by Humble Games. The game was supposed to come to the Nintendo Switch, but that now seems in doubt due to the recent restructuring of Humble Games, which saw several staff laid off. The move also affected the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Coral Island as Stairway Games says they are unable to release current and future updates for the console versions of the game. Coral Island backers apparently haven’t received the Switch version yet, and in a new message to X, Stairway Games says the only thing they can do for Switch backers is to offer them a Coral Island Steam key, which they admit is ideal.
