While data storage is the only deal for Nintendo switchch Online subscribers, it seems that Nintendo will eventually give players the option to transfer their saved New Horizons from one system to another.

This game does not currently support the ability to transfer your backup file from one Nintendo Switch console to another. However, the specific function of crossing Animal Crossing: New Horizons is to move users and store data in another console scheduled later this year.
