Since confirmation DO ETERNAL and Crossing the Animals: New Horizons were to be released the same day, fans of both games have been creating and sharing drawings made of Doom Slayer and Isabelle together. While we've already heard DoOM Eternal creative director Hugo Martin talk about how great the "amazing diversity" is in the games today, we're still going to hear what anyone from the Animal Crossing team thinks about this unattractive duo.
In an interview with IGN recently, Crossing the Animals: New Horizons director, Aya Kyogoku briefly praised the cohesion of these two fanbases – saying how excited she was to see this kind of interaction.
I definitely see and realize that there is a lot of collaborative art for Doom and Animal Crossing posted, and when I look at them I am amazed at how talented our fans are.
I think that because there is a general process of this kind of interaction happening between Doom and Animal Crossing fans, and the fact that Animal Crossing is a communication game, we are very grateful and very excited to see all this. We are so excited to simultaneously see how the two [fandoms] come together to celebrate this day.
Producer Hisashi Nogami added how wonderful it was to see so many "faning up" fans in the middle of the gaming and gaming culture as a whole.
So crossing Animal Crossing with Doom – obviously the game genres are completely different. We definitely have something in common, and that is both video games, and we come from the same language. It is very interesting to see how the two different fandoms interact and explore the game [community] and the gaming culture itself. It really is a beautiful thing to see
Animal Crossing: New Horizons arrives at the switch on 20 March. The Eternal DoOM is also being released this day, but its Swingch release has yet to be announced. If you would like to see more of Doom Slayer and Isabelle art, check out our earlier post.
