CyberConnect2 who made Solatorobo: Red Red Hunter, the best Nintendo DS game released a decade ago, recently discussed the game's possibilities of finding a comeback. CyberConnect2 Director Hiroshi Matsuyama addressed fans in a recent question and answer-time video. Here is what Mr Matsuyama said about the issue:
“Yes, he may be. As you know, Soboboto was the only game released on Nintendo DS. You all remember, didn't you? The Nintendo DS had two screens. The top screen was a gaming screen and the first was a touch panel.
On the practical side of things, it would be very difficult to move a game without the hardware that supports this system. You may have to upgrade the Solatorobo touch panel system, and integrate the bottom screen into one screen, but you may want to be completely redone. I feel that this can present its own difficulties.
Solatorobo was released in Japan, the US, Europe and Asia in 2010, published by Bandai Namco (Japan and Europe), but in terms of sales, it was not overly high. We sold about 100,000 copies worldwide. Based on that, when we reinvent or rebuild a game, how many copies can we expect to sell? How much budget should we allocate to the development of this hypothetical sale? As long as we have just created a simple port and simply deployed it as a downloadable version, it will lose a bit of the original intended experience.
I personally think that, not only is our title Solatorobo, but with many other games designed for the Nintendo DS and 3DS, many of us would like to re-release, albeit a downloaded, HD version back to the genre of these games, so that our current customers can play. with our buildings of the past, but at this point, I don't think the industry intends to serve that purpose. If we were to take Solatorobo back, we'd be starting over. ”
