We continue to receive content from this long-awaited game for Nintendo Switch. They have been published today actually in relation to Marvel.
We speak in this case of Marvel’s Midnight Suns, which has not yet reached Nintendo Switch but continues to confirm news. In this case, we have been able to learn that Deadpool was considered as part of the base game, but was later separated as DLC.
In an interview with Videogames Chroniclethe creative director of Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Jake Solomonhas explained why:
For a while, Deadpool was planned for the base game. We never started with it, but we chose it because we wanted the game to have a Saturday morning cartoon vibe. The characters themselves are very serious about what they’re doing, right? It’s not a joke to them, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make jokes, that we can’t make bigger jokes, or that the characters can’t make funny jokes.
But then we realized that Deadpool can’t look that serious, and we thought it would just ruin the whole tone of the game. So we thought: we’ll write the game and tell the story in the tone that we want to convey, and then for the first DLC, we’ll have someone come and contact the heroes and point out how ridiculous the situation was. It was cathartic for us to design it, it was cathartic for the writers to write it, and it all gave a lot of freedom.
