It seems that we continue to receive news about Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and its contents. Have statements most interesting about Super Mario!
Specifically, after its premiere and its first DLC, as well as the premiere of Tower of Doooom and the trailer for The Last Spark Hunter, we also learned details of this second additional content, different from that of Rayman. Now we have this second DLC available and those responsible continue to talk about it. this work in this installment.
Grant Kirkhope, composer of this installment, has acknowledged the pressure of composing for a Super Mario game in a recent meeting with Nintendo Life. This is what was shared about it:
No, they never told me it was a Mario game. They told me, “You sat there quietly for the first hour, we thought you didn’t like the game.” Because I was white as a sheet. Jet-lag, for example, white as a sheet saying, “How the hell am I going to write music for a Mario game? Koji Kondo is the jedi master. I’m just a padawan. It’s not possible, I can’t make this game.” I just thought, “I’m going to have to say: Sorry guys, I just can’t do it. It’s not feasible for me.”
So they showed it to me. It was a great idea. I was scared shitless and excited in equal parts. On the way back to the plane, I was thinking, “What am I going to do? how am i going to do [esto]?” So, I wrote the first song that I thought would be [correcta] and they liked it. And it just went from there. And the rest is history. [Risas]
I had to do a couple of Mario compositions, I did the Game Over Mario melody, for orchestra. I did it and I had to send it to Koji, he had to approve it. He had mixed some of the harmony. Not wrong notes, just an octave wrong or something. This is one of the moments that I will remember forever. They sent me an email through Ubisoft to say, “Dear Mr. Kirkhope,” super polite. “I love your arrangement of the Game Over melody. Could you modify some of the notes?” And they sent me some sheet music from the actual game. I just thought: “God almighty! I have sat here looking at the Game Over melody in the musical notation of…” I had to pinch myself: “How am I doing this? Is incredible.” Know? How did I become the first Western composer, I think, to work with Mario? Simply incredible.
